Jasmine back on air
MANILA, Philippines - After going off the air last Sunday, TV5’s love mystery drama Jasmine starring Jasmine Curtis-Smith (photo) returns to the TV screens tonight at 9:15.
The network temporarily halted the airing of the series upon the advice of its director Mark Meily, after knowing that some of the production staff were having “stalker-like†experiences from an anonymous person while taping for their second episode. Direk Mark cancelled the taping himself “to ensure the safety of the cast and his production team.â€
“At first, we thought it was one of us, playing a prank on the set. But then we found out that even the fans of Jasmine were also getting the same texts and tweets from either the same number. So we don’t know who this ‘stalker’ was. We stopped taping muna lang as a precaution,†he said.
TV5 management has decided to resume with the series after assessing the situation but provided more security for their cast and crew.
“Upon our investigation, the texts and tweets were considered harmless. Jasmine’s airing and taping will proceed as scheduled,†said direk Mark.
The identity of the said “stalker†remains to be seen. In the series, Jasmine plays as a fictional version of herself, a rising celebrity who is also hounded by a stalker.
For its pilot episode, Jasmine caught the attention of netizens who tuned in and contributed to the overwhelming positive viewer sentiment posted online about the show. In fact, the hashtag #JASMINETheSeriesPilotEp made it to the worldwide trending topics on Twitter and to date, the series holds the record for having the fastest-growing online community of TV5 viewers.
