Junnel Manansala is the latest addition to the growing number of talents of Backroom, Inc. Junnel is a fourth-year Tourism major at the Arellano University. It was Jonathan Valdez of Backroom who brought him into the talent management house.
This early, Junnel knows that as a newbie in the industry, he faces stiff competition in terms of landing projects but he’s eager and determined to give it a try. After all, even the biggest stars in the business had to start somewhere, and for many of them, it didn’t happen right away. They had to work hard and wait for their big break. Junnel says he’s willing to do the same, no matter how long it takes — and he doesn’t plan on giving up anytime soon.
“That’s my personality,†says Junnel, who looks like he could potentially give character actors a run for their money. “I don’t give up until I achieve something I want. Everyone who wants to make it in showbiz is unique in their own way. I think that my personality will be my edge over the others.â€
Junnel is glad to be working with Backroom and enjoying the support of its staff and artists. He believes that with their help, he could go far in showbiz like his idol Enrique Gil whose youth, good looks, talent and charm Junnel admires.
The Mirabella star and dancer-actor is one of Junnel’s inspirations as he seeks to find his place in showbiz.
But Junnel is also very realistic. He knows he will have to put in a lot of hard work and be patient because nothing comes easy, especially in this industry. “For now, all I want is to be noticed and to be given a chance to show my talents. I’m not worried about how long it will take. I don’t have any deadline. As long as I have my family’s and Backroom’s support, I will not give up until I get my place in this industry,†he declares confidently.
Junnel has been making a good impression in the Not Your Ordinary Variety Show staged in different Pagcor branches around the country.
He enjoys being onstage and performing in front of audiences. “It’s exciting and fun,†he says. “But I know this is just the beginning and I understand that to fulfill my dreams, I really need to work hard. You can’t be successful if you’re not willing to put in the work.â€
In the end, this promising newcomer has only one wish: “I’m new in the industry and I hope people give me a chance.â€
