MANILA, Philippines - Most people nowadays opt to watch movies at home what with the advent of state-of-the-art television sets that could equal or even surpass the cinema viewing experience.
TV sets these days, especially those with Ultra High Definition (UHD) and LED technologies, deliver crystal clear images that look more realistic and just like the real world.
Now, TV viewing has gotten more exciting as the South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung recently launched the world’s first Curved UHD TV.
UHD, also known as 4K, is apparently the future thing for TVs.
“The newest line-up from Samsung is geared towards fulfilling the needs and desires of Filipino viewers. The Curved TV is the next stage of how people can enhance their viewing experience. It is touted as the next big thing for your living room,†Chung Lyong Lee, Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. president and managing director told the media during the Curved TV’s grand launch at the Blue Leaf in Pasay City recently.
According to some industry film experts, Curved TV works best because it follows the natural curvature of the eye. Lee agreed, saying the curvature gives the viewer a more immersive experience because that’s the way the human eye absorbs images more easily.
“Samsung Curved UHD TV boasts of a crisp picture quality which is four times more powerful than a FHD screen and a change in perspective that makes images appear larger and true to life,†said Lee. “The Curved TV’s screen allows for a more realistic viewing experience even from different angles — ensuring that everyone gets the best seat in the house.â€
“The combination of the curved screen and Samsung Proprietary Auto Depth Enhancer UHD technology automatically adjusts contrast for a greater sense of depth and gives a 3D-like effect without requiring glasses,†he added.
“Imagine seeing images coming to life right in front of you in spectacular color, clarity and detail that only Samsung can give. Amazing, isn’t it? Even the color is further enhanced using the Pure Color technology that reproduces color for even more detailed expression,†Lee stressed.
He said that Samsung made sure that people would have an easy time using the Curved TV with its user-friendly operating system.
“It is easy, fast and fun to use with its multi-link screen feature that allows dual screens to process separate tasks that operate alongside each other,†Lee explained.
The Curved TV also has Internet capabilities, just like Samsung’s SMART TV.
“The Internet is fast and the viewer need not to worry about cutting down on speed performance, thanks to the upgraded quad core processor, which delivers quicker loading and navigation through tasks and commands,†Lee said.
“Aside from the Curved TV, Samsung has tailored this year’s other product line-up with the Philippine market in mind. Some of the features worth highlighting are the Internet capability of the TV, perfect for social media and Internet-savvy Filipino users, and the Family TV feature that lets family members maximize the Samsung experience with Screen Capture and Sound Capture to instantly catalogue their favorite moments on screen for personal viewing in the future,†he added.
But this TV isn’t cheap. The Curved UHD TV’s price ranges from P300,000 to P500,000 (depending on series and size.). It is available in 78 inches, 65 inches and 55 inches in all Samsung outlets nationwide.
