MANILA, Philippines – Will Richard Gutierrez finally open up about his rumored child with girlfriend Sarah Lahbati in “It Takes Gutz to be a Gutierrez,†his family's upcoming reality show?
At the sideline of the red carpet preview of the said show on Monday, the entertainment press asked the actor if he will finally answer the “big question†during the course of the reality show, which will focus on him and his family—parents Annabelle Rama and Eddie Gutierrez and siblings Ruffa and Raymond, among others.
It was reported last year that Sarah reportedly gave birth to Richard's baby last year. The couple has since been evasive about the issue, with the two often saying that there is a “right time for everything.â€
Richard told reporters during the press preview, “Alam mo, gaya nga ng sabi ko dati, nung umalis kami ni Sarah last year tapos naging tahimik kaming dalawa, maraming unanswered questions. Maraming tao na may kanya-kanyang speculations, kanya-kanyang hula.â€
The 29-year-old actor added: “I think now is the perfect time to answer all the questions. One, because Sarah is finally back with GMA. And two, we're doing a reality show for E!â€
“Now, everything is good, wala na kaming mga problema. So now is the perfect time time to answer. And will answer it in the first episode, all the questions.â€
Sarah returned to the Philippines this year after a one-year hiatus from show business following a rift with GMA-7 executiv Annette Gozon-Abrogar.
The conflict was recently resolved and the actress has returned to showbiz. She did a TV movie with TV5 titled “More than Words,†although she remains to be talent of the Kapuso network.
“They are treating her very well. She has a new management team handling her career. She's very happy,†Richard said of Sarah.
Richard isn't new in the field of reality shows as he hosted a few seasons of the Philippine adaptation of the reality competition “Survivor.†But this is the first time he'll be in front of the camera as the subject of a reality show.
“Doing a reality show, in the beginning, it was kind of awkward, because a camera follows you 24/7. But after a while, when there are cameras 24/7, you just feel like there are no cameras,†he said.
“So you just have to be true to yourself. It's good, it was a good ride.â€
He adds doing the reality show was a “relief.†“I think it's a relief for me to share what we went through, kaming dalawa ni Sarah,†Richard said. “Finally, masaagot na namin ang mga dapat sagutin.â€
“It Takes Gutz to be a Gutierrez†premieres Sunday, June 1 on cable channel E!
