Amazing TV5 party at the 2014 Ad Summit

MANILA, Philippines - The four-day Advertising Summit, dubbed Age of Enlightenment, kicked off last May 7 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center in Olongapo City.

The most-awaited advertising and marketing event was organized by the Association of Accredited Agencies of the Philippines (4As Philippines). TV5 and The Philippine STAR were among the top media corporations that took part in the event.

Delegates and visitors trooped to the trade exhibit hall which featured the comfy booths of PLDT Home and Convergence Now. They played games for a chance to win goodies from SMART and TV5.

TV5 hosted the first night of Ad Summit Pilipinas last May 8, treating more than 2,500 delegates to a festive night of food, drinks, raffle and dance party.

In a message during the dinner party, TV5 and PLDT chairman Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) said, “The solution lies not so much in technology or resources, or even funding — but in having the right people, the right team in place, to navigate through the rough seas. This is probably why you adopted this introspective theme in this Ad Summit about human truths and values — because in the end, it is always about people.”

He also added humor to his speech, saying: “Few of you are aware that once upon a time, I produced a movie called Rosario — after my maternal grandmother on whose life it was based. It didn’t do as well as My Little Bossings. But I’m in good company with Andrew Garfield and the Amazing Spider-Man.”

MVP concluded, “The inevitable move towards digital space should not be regarded as a threat, but an opportunity for our industry. Ultimately, the on-line audience will be larger than the traditional one, with consumers being targeted with precision and ad strategies being crafted accordingly.”

The event was hosted by Derek Ramsay.
