Village People at Solaire May 28
MANILA, Philippines - The Village People (photo) is an American disco group that was formed in the US in 1977, well-known for its onstage costumes depicting American cultural stereotypes, as well as the catchy tunes and suggestive lyrics. The group was originally created by Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo to target disco’s audiences by featuring popular fantasy personas. Its popularity quickly brought the members into the mainstream. It scores a number of disco and dance hits, including the band’s trademark Macho Man, Go West, the classic club medley of San Francisco (You’ve Got Me)/In Hollywood (Everybody is a Star), In the Navy and its biggest hit, Y.M.C.A. Village People has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
Presented by Redstone Media Productions, the Village People will perform in Manila at the Solaire Grand Ballroom, Solaire Resorts & Casino on May 28; the Waterfront Hotel & Casino, Cebu City, May 29; and SMX Convention Center, Davao City, May 30.
