Oscar Obligacion & the love of his life

In the early ’50s, Oscar Obligacion met LVN build-up star Myrna Quizon and from then on, he never looked at another woman. To quote a line from the song, ‘I only have eyes for you.’

Shortly thereafter, Oscar tied the knot with the love of his life, who gave up her career in favor of Oscar.

No regrets as Myrna spent the best and happiest years of her life with Oscar who died some years back.

Oscar continued with his career as comedian on the big screen, television and stage, bringing joy to millions of people.

Oscar and Myrna lived in California for two decades, where he joined kundiman and classical singer Sylvia La Torre in concerts all over the US.

Back in the Philippines, the couple engaged in lucrative businesses, including providing chairs for theaters, among them the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

Well-provided for by her late husband, Myrna spends her days in the company of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looks back with fondness and affection, at times with sorrow, at the years she shared with Oscar. —RKC
