Jasmine Curtis-Smith on bashers: 'I just wish the best upon them'

MANILA, Philippines – Jasmine Curtis-Smith said she has learned to accept that intrigues and gossip will always be a part of her life as an actress.

“Nagugulat pa rin ako (sa intriga). But at the same time, not only from my ate but also from everyone that I have worked with, you know, they're all, 'Okay lang yan.' It's the way of life,” the TV5 star told members of the press in an interview after the live airing of her music show SPINNATION on Saturday, April 5.

She added, “Next week may panibago na namang issue, then you will be out of it or it will die down. Basta people are there to comfort you and you know really what happened.”

Last week, Jasmine's sister Anne Curtis allegedly confronted and humiliated the young actress' rumored boyfriend Sam Concepcion at the birthday party of Vice Ganda in lounge bar in Makati City. According to reports, Anne told Sam: “Ba't mo niloloko ang kapatid ko?”

This embroidered Jasmine in the issue, as she was reportedly the reason why Anne talked to Sam at the party.

Would the Kapatid star want less “intriga” in her career? Jasmine said she can't complaint about the gossip and intrigues because “it's the life I choose.”

“Ginusto ko itong buhay na ito. I'm part of showbiz. I'm not gonna tell people, 'Huwag kayong magsulat tungkol sa akin.' It's just gonna be part of my life,” she said.

'Learn the art of dedma'

One thing Jasmine can't accept though are the harsh words being said to Anne on social media after she was stung by a box jellyfish last week.

Some bashers on Twitter, for instance, have called Anne's incident with the jellyfish karma for the alleged confrontation with Sam and her nightclub incident with John Lloyd Cruz last year.

“People who say those things will not know how it feels until it happens to a family member or someone that they love,” Jasmine said of Anne's bashers.

She added, “I just wish the best upon them.”

Jasmine further said she hopes those who attack Anne will “find their stand on the ground they feel happiness in their lives.”

“If you're really happy as a person, you don't need to tell people, 'Karma mo yan kaya nagkaganyan ka, kaya ka nagkasakit.' You know, if it's a health issue, sumusobra na yung mga tao. That's all I can say. Sumusobra na yung mga tao for wishing illness upon my sister, because I would never illness upon anyone's family,” the TV5 star said.

In the end, Jasmine said that, like her older sister Anne, she is learning the art of dedma. “And ito na yun, dedma,” she said.
