MANILA, Philippines - Recreational Outdoor eXchange (R.O.X.) hosted the third leg of the Zero Gravity: National Bouldering Competition. The elimination round was held last March 22 and the final competition happened the day after, March 23, at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater.
The series of bouldering competitions which began its first leg last year in Cebu which was followed by its second leg as hosted by Habagat late last year in Ayala Centrio proved that it is worth-pursuing just like every other sport.
The recently-concluded final leg of the competition determined the climbers who will form part of the Philippine National Climbing Team for Bouldering. The winners of the finals are now the official representatives of the country in various international bouldering events to come.
Making sure that everything goes accordingly, there was no better partnership to mobilize the final leg than one between R.O.X. and the Sport Climbing Association of the Philippines, Inc. (SCAPI).
Divided into two categories, the competition held an open category and a novice category during the first day. Only the best were left to compete during the following day for the finals. During the awarding ceremony, R.O.X. hailed the official national team for sports climbing.
The country is a natural breeding ground for climbers as it is home to challenging terrains and mountains, such as the ones to be found in Cagayan de Oro and Bacolod, that will propel climbing enthusiasts to level up their skills.
Through events such as the Zero Gravity National Bouldering Competition, the community can break new ground and explore sporting possibilities beyond the conventional. For those who wish to hone their skills in sports climbing, R.O.X. outdoor shop houses an in-store 40-foot climbing wall called Power UP which has its own speed climbing wall with buzzer and timer. This is perfect for beginners and those who are looking for means to train conveniently.
The newly-launched Philippine National Team will compete in the SEA Games in Singapore next year. The Zero Gravity: National Bouldering Competition was presented by R.O.X. in partnership with Primer Group of Companies, SCAPI, Bonifacio High Street, Power Up, Seafood Island, Mountain Hardwear, Proxstone, GoPro, Yurbuds, 8a Performance, Blue Cross, Native, Mountain Dew and media partner AXN.
R.O.X. is Southeast Asia’s biggest outdoor shop. The stores are located at Bonifacio High Street, Ayala Center Cebu, Ayala Centrio Cagayan de Oro, Marquee Mall Pampanga, Camp John Hay Baguio, and The District North Point Bacolod.
