There are roughly 8,000 new cases identified annually, making colorectal cancer one of the top causes of cancer-related deaths in the Philippines, according to the Philippine Cancer Society. This type of cancer develops in the colon or rectum and has been tagged as the second most common form of cancer among women with half a million cases in the world. The good news is, this cancer is curable, since the development may take a while. If diagnosed early on, there is a chance of recovery, treatment and survival.
