MANILA, Philippines - From Feb. 28 to March 3, the PGA Tour will continue its year-long process when it makes a stop at the Palm Beach Gardens in Florida, for this year’s instalment of the Honda Classic.
Expected to return for his title defense is Michael Thompson, who won the 2013 tournament with a score of 271. This season, the defending champion is expected to face a tougher array of opponents, starting with Rory Mcllroy, who placed first in the 2012 Honda Classic.
There are also many other notable golfers that will make their way to Florida in hopes of dethroning the champ. Among them include Tiger Woods, Y.E. Yang, Ryan Palmer, Tommy Gainey, Blake Adams, and many more.
The total purse of the 2014 Honda Classic amounts to $6M with $1.08M promised to the victor of the competition. The top placer will also get a 500-point bonus in the FedEx Cup ranking, which is led by Jimmy Walker, who has 1,783 markers.
Solar Sports will air the 2014 Honda Classic on Feb. 28 live at 5:30 a.m., March 1 live at 4 a.m., and from March 2 to 3 live at 2 a.m.
