My Puhunan spills recipe for success

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Karen Davila traces the story of how Vivian del Rosario, owner of the popular Tapsi ni Vivian restaurant, became a millionaire by starting out small and selling food in parking lots today at 4:45 p.m. on ABS-CBN’s My Puhunan.

After getting her own spot in a wet market in 1984, Vivian put up the very first branch of Tapsi ni Vivian in Project 3, Quezon City, one of the first eateries to offer and popularize tapsilog.

Vivian’s dishes were widely patronized, and soon after she was able to have her own supermarket, pig pen and building built. At 62, Vivian is still hands-on in her restaurant’s daily operations and even manages to prepare the dishes every day.

Karen also features Pinoy Big Brother big winner Nene Tamayo’s homemade Spanish-style bangus that is now being sold in supermarkets. According to her, she has mastered the preparation of the dish without using preservatives and MSG.

In tomorrow’s Mutya ng Masa episode, Doris Bigornia shares the touching story of Jorge, a 21-year-old grade six student, who despite being persistently ridiculed by other people, has his eyes set on finishing school.
