MANILA, Philippines - As reported on the front page the other day, The STAR has just launched a fund-raising campaign for Filipino skater Michael Christian Martinez, shown in his breath-taking performance at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, where he placed No. 19 with a final score of 184.25 points out of the 24 who made the cut from a field of 30 skaters.
The campaign was kicked off by STAR president and CEO Miguel Belmonte with a P50,000 donation.
Michael’s journey doesn’t end in Sochi. He will continue to train for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Michael was accorded a grand homecoming welcome by TV5 with partner SM Malls on his arrival yesterday from Russia. The motorcade culminated with a presscon at the MOA Arena. A meet-and-greet is set for this afternoon at 4 o’clock at SM Southmall, Feb. 25 at 12 noon at SM Megamall and same day at 4 p.m. at SM MOA.
