Everybody thought it was magnanimous for Kris Aquino to have defended her former husband James Yap on allegations that he sold the game in the most recent Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) games. Kris and James’ highly-publicized separation hogged the headlines for quite sometime. They have been to court and their battles have been public. No, Kris will not hide anything from her beloved audience. And when she announced to all and sundry of her support for her ex-husband, people responded positively.
In our new show, the 15-minuter Aquino and Abunda Tonight, Kris said, “Nakilala ko ang buong pagkatao niya. I know he will not sell a game. He has spent his whole life playing basketball and he will never do such a thing. Kahit anong bentang sinasabi nila matutumbasan yun sa kikitain niya by making it to the finals. Ganun kalaki ang kontrata niya. There’s no reason for him to sell the game. Good luck James. Prove everybody wrong.â€
James was elated upon learning that Kris was defending and rooting for him. “Pinagtanggol niya ako? Wow! Thank you, thank you. And happy birthday,†said James.
It looks like Kris and James are well into making real peace. And their families are both happy. “Oo naman. Masaya sila. Na-surprise din. Nag-mature na raw ako. Tapos, my ate said, ‘You must really be happy’ para magawa ko daw yun. And I said, ‘Yes, ate, I’m happy.’â€
Kris has also given permission for James to be with not only Bimby but Josh as well. The trio were together during James’ birthday a few days ago. An ever-thankful James, blurted, “Thank you na pumayag si Kris. I am so excited because I have not seen my son in a long time. Sobrang excited talaga with Josh. Napamahal na din ako sa kanya.â€
And Kris, while on vacation abroad, posted a photo on Instagram with a caption that read, “Happy birthday James. Peace. Harmony and God’s blessings to you. I am a mom who has learned to set aside past hurts and I’ve learned how to move on with God’s grace because I want my sons to be well-adjusted and positive. And that starts with my example.†The post was hashtagged, peace and maturity.
James answered the post also on Instagram with a photo of him, Josh and Bimby in a motorcycle. The caption read: “Kumpleto na birthday ko. Thank you Lord. Hashtag happy. Hashtag priceless. Hashtag happiest.â€

‘A case of misunderstanding’
International singer Rex Smith, known for his hits Simply Jessie and You Take My Breath Away, denied allegations that he berated Charice while she was rehearsing for a corporate show. According to Rex, Charice was not at the venue but Charice’s Fil-Am musical director. And it was the musical director whom he had a spat with.
Earlier in the entertainment news, it was reported that Rex barged into the room where Charice and her musical director Troy Laureta were rehearsing. Rex supposedly wanted Charice to stop. Rex had an altercation with Charice’s musical director.
Ovation Productions, the production behind Rex’s local concert, explained it was a case of misunderstanding. Rex was not aware that somebody will be performing ahead of him, thus he went directly to the stage. And while he was giving instructions as to the set-up, the musical director shouted at him and asked him to leave. That started the tension.
Danee Samonte, the Asian manager of Rex, explained that the argument was just between Rex and the musical director and not Charice. Ovation Productions and the Asian Management of Rex have already issued an apology to Charice.
However, Charice’s management denies this.
