ABS-CBN’s summer offerings in 2014

ABS-CBN set off a firework of stars as it kicked off the Year of the Wooden Horse with its trade event called Masayang Muli Ang Kuwento Natin, where the Kapamilya network presented to advertisers its exciting line-up of programs for the first quarter of 2014, including the retelling of Mars Ravelo’s Dyesebel.

“This summer, we will experience once again the joy and love brought by a timeless classic,” said ABS-CBN head of broadcast Cory Vidanes. â€œEveryone has to experience the Mars Ravelo collection. The masterpieces of Mars Ravelo are not our responsibility just to the Ravelo family, but to all Filipinos of every generation.”

In Dyesebel, Anne Curtis stars as the Philippines’ beloved mermaid who emerges from a secret underwater civilization to explore the world above the sea and finds love.

Joining her are Sam Milby as Liro, Gerald Anderson as Fredo and Andi Eigenmann as Betty.

After diving underwater, ABS-CBN will take the audience back in time with Ikaw Lamang, a once-in-a-lifetime event exclusive on television, starring Coco Martin, Kim Chiu, Julia Montes and Jake Cuenca in a love story set in the ’60s.

In a recent interview with Push.com.ph, Coco said it has been a while since their last soap and expressed his excitement to work with Kim again.

Along with Dyesebel and Ikaw Lamang, ABS-CBN introduced the mysterious Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon starring Bea Alonzo, Paulo Avelino, Tonton Gutierrez, Albert Martinez and Dina Bonnevie. Bea, in a recent press conference, said that it will be a unique role to do as she will be portraying three characters.

Viewers can also look forward to the upcoming teleserye Moon of Desire, which will mark several firsts for its cast. It will be the first lead roles for Meg Imperial and JC de Vera, the first mature and sexy role for teen heartthrob Dominic Roque, and the first soap for new Kapamilya stars Ellen Adarna and Miko Raval.

Rising star Julia Barretto will also have her first lead role as the title character in Mirabella. Her co-stars in the teleserye are Enrique Gil and Sam Concepcion.

Aside from the teleseryes, ABS-CBN also showcased its new shows like Aquino and Abunda Tonight, which reunites Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda; The Singing Bee and The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition: Doubles.

ABS-CBN will also air Binibining Pilipinas 2014 and The Voice Kids (Philippine Edition). Coach Bamboo electrified the crowd at the event with his former band, Rivermaya’s 214 and his rendition of Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror.

It was a cool January night at the trade event, but it was clear that ABS-CBN is ready to heat things up with its new offerings this summer.
