Are Valentine Babies more romantic, more passionate?

Because they were born on the Day of Hearts, Valentine Babies are believed to be more romantic and more passionate than people born on other days. True or not?

Let’s hear it from three of showbiz’s Valentine Babies — Heart Evangelista (Feb. 14, 1985), John Prats (Feb. 14, 1984) and Rico J. Puno (Feb. 14, 1953).

“Oh yes, we are, we are,” Heart was emphatic. “I guess it’s because we imbibe the essence of Valentine’s more intensely. We are not only more romantic and more passionate, we are also more thoughtful. We put meaning to every detail. We make Valentine’s Day far more special to our partners than do other people.”

John: I think same lang. Romantic gaya ng iba. Maybe mas cheesy lang, hahahaha!

Rico: For me, Valentine Babies are the most romantic people because most of our birthdays are spent with our sweethearts and that makes us feel extra special and leaves us stress-free. Nobody and nothing spoils Valentine’s Day except its initials, VD!

Heart is happily going steady with Sen. Chiz Escudero (Oct. 10, 1969), John with Isabel Oli (Oct. 20, 1981) and Rico with his non-showbiz girlfriend (who helped him answer the questions).

What does love mean to them and how do they express it?

Heart: Love is something that inspires. When I’m in love, I do so unconditionally. When you really love someone, nobody or nothing can break it. I’m the “touching” kind of person, very passionate and very loving.

John: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. ‘Yan talaga ang true meaning of love.

Rico: Love is a 24/7 commitment. It requires trust and sexual consistency. At my age, love is the excitement I feel when going home to my own home sweet home after a long day at work.

On Valentine’s Day, Heart and Chiz will hie off to Hong Kong with some friends while John and Isabel will celebrate with his family. And Rico? “Valentine’s Day couldn’t be better without a hotel suite and a Jacuzzi.”

And they do exchange Valentine gifts.

Heart: I give a gift that is special at talagang pinag-iisipan.

John: Yes, but we are keeping it a secret from each other para may surprise element when we open it.

Rico: Yes, I’m very consistent with my gift every year. And I always get the same answer, “’Yan na naman!?” I would reply, “At least, iba ang kulay ng ribbon!” She usually gives me an expensive pair of shoes.

Because they are romantic, they melt together (rather, into each other) listening to their Valentine (theme) songs. For Heart and Chiz, it’s any song by Sade; for John and Isabel, “Actually, marami. But for now, it’s Endlessly by The Cab.” For Rico and his girlfriend, “For Once In My Life by Frank Sinatra, Falling In Love at 61 and It’s Now Or Never.”

Incidentally, Funfare sources said that they don’t believe that John and Isabel, according to persistent rumors (floated by the sweethearts themselves “for fun”?), are getting married this year. (But for sure, those who will are Karylle and Yael Yuzon on March 22, Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones on May 1 in Boracay, and Boots Anson-Roa and Francisco “King” Rodrigo on June 14…and Aiza Seguerra and Liza Diño next year in California?)

Ask Heart when she and Chiz are marching down the aisle (with Chiz’s twin kids [with ex-wife Tintin Flores] as flower girl and ring-bearer?), and she would snap back, with a big laugh (to indicate that she’s only joking…or is she?), “Tomorrow!” But as the song says,…tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, you’re always a day away!

Neither are they living together.

“We live 128 steps away,” Chiz pointed out.

“Besides,” said Heart, “My place is full. One room is already occupied with my clothes. Puede live together only after we get married.”

Tomorrow?
