The Borrowed Wife stars grace Bacolaodiat Festival
MANILA, Philippines - In Bacolod City, 6,000 Negrenses were treated to an exciting Kapuso experience via the Kapuso Night held last Feb. 1 at the North Capitol Road. Featuring performances from The Borrowed Wife stars Camille Prats, Pauleen Luna and Rafael Rosell, the event served as the highlight of GMA Network’s participation in city’s version of the annual Chinese New Year merry making called Bacolaodiat.
The Kapuso stars took the stage with two songs each, amusing the audience not only with their song numbers but with their charms. Camille smiled, waved and threw kisses in the air to fans, while Pauleen invited a lucky guy from the audience to a romantic duet, obliging a kiss from him afterwards. Rafael, on the other hand, did not let the excitement level go anywhere but up as he made two female participants blush when he serenaded.
Earlier that day, Camille and Rafael were together for a press interview with the members of the Bacolod media where they got to share a few things about their roles in The Borrowed Wife, which airs weekdays on GMA Afternoon Prime after Magkano Ba Ang Pag-ibig?
Asked what her reaction will be should the unfortunate events in the life of her character Sophia happen to her in real life, Camille says in a surprised tone, “Oh my gosh. I’m going to lose my mind! ‘Yung role ko kasi dito is confused, she has an amnesia, she doesn’t have any memory of her past life so she’s in search of herself once again. If one day I wake up with all the memories back with me and realizing na why do I look like this and where’s my husband, and when I finally see my husband, he doesn’t recognize me, feeling ko ang sakit sakit nung betrayal na pagdadaanan ko kapag ganun ang nangyari.â€
But if there’s one thing viewers should learn from the series, Camille shares, “‘Yung nagyari kasi dito, Rafael made a mistake of sleeping with Tessa (Pauleen). If that didn’t happen, Sophia wouldn’t have left, and hindi sana siya makikita ni Earl (TJ Trinidad), at hindi sana siya maaaksidente, mapapalitan ng mukha, and all those things. Siguro ‘yung pinaka-lesson is that a simple mistake could actually lead to something big — big enough to actually alter your whole life.â€
Rafael shares the preparations he went through considering that this is his first time to act as a father in a series. “I usually say no to father figure roles simply because I don’t have a connection with an offspring. But for this, I practiced. Hiniram ko ‘yung anak ng ibang friends ko para lang ma-feel ko ‘yung connection with the kids. I love children in general so madali na sa aking ma-adapt ‘yung idea of having a child. And in the process of borrowing children, naiintindihan ko na ngayon ‘yung sinasabi ng iba na kapag sobrang stressful day sa work tapos pag-uwi makikita ‘yung mga anak nila, nawawala ‘yung stress dahil yes, these children are stress-relievers, and in the end, these children are really what matters.â€
The festivities began last Jan. 30 with the participation of the Kapuso contingent in the Dazzling Parade. GMA also extended its support to the organizers of the festival by taking part in the Chinese Lantern Making Contest and Lantern Dance Competition.
Highlights of GMA Network’s participation in the Bacolaodiat Festival will be seen in Let’s Fiesta TV Special which airs on Feb. 23 via regional stations in Bicol, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Dagupan, Ilocos, GenSan, Bacolod and Cagayan De Oro.
