Deniece’s father to Vhong Navarro: ‘Magpakalalaki ka’

MANILA, Philippines – Deniece Cornejo’s parents finally broke their silence to defend their controversial daughter.

This comes after Deniece, one of the people allegedly behind the attacks against actor Vhong Navarro, said in a television interview last week that it’s her choice not to let her parents to face the media.

“Laban ko po ito, gulo ko po ito, kakayanin ko po ito. May tiwala po sila sa akin. Alang-alang lang po sa pamilya ko,” she said in a previous interview.

Deniece’s parents admitted they are affected by their daughter’s scandal.

“Up to now, hindi ako makapaniwala. I’m in shock. Masyado akong nalungkot sa pangyayari. Hindi talaga parehas,” Dennis Cornejo, the father of Deniece, said in a phone interview aired on GMA-7’s showbiz talk show “Startalk” on Sunday, February 9.

He added, “Hinding-hindi kami tatalikod sa anumang pinaglalaban niya (Deniece) dahil ang laban niya ay laban naming buong pamilya.”

“Kami ay laging nakasuporta sa kanya. Lakasan niya ang loob niya at palagi namin siyang pinagdarasal.”

Ana Miles, Deniece’s mother, said: “Galit ako. Galit ako sa ginagawa nila.”

She pleaded the public not to judge her daughter. “Dapat, bago kayo lumabas sa media, anuhin nyo yung mga sinasabi niyo. Dapat control lang, i-filter niyo kasi yung mga sinasabi nyo, talagang mali."

Dennis’ message to Vhong? “Sana siya maparusahan sa ginawa n’yang yan,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the same “Startalk” report, Howard Calleja, Deniece’s legal counsel, criticized the “special treatment” being given to Vhong.

“Obviously kitang-kita nama natin, from St. Lukes to DOJ, kung gaano karami ang escort niya at kapulisan na sana tumutulong sa ibang krimen at ibang isyung pambayan, e napunta sa kanya ang seguridad,” he said. “It would appear na meron konting pinapaboran o may konting special treatment dito.”

Calleja added: “Hindi ko naman aalisan na ilang libo ang fans ni Vhong. That only, alam naman natin right or wrong, tagahanga mo yan… No matter what any other people say, let us not try this in public, let us not try this in the court of public opinion.”
