Regine dedicates her Valentine concert to Mang Gerry

MANILA, Philippines- Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez- Alcasid  is trying her best to be strong after her father, Mang Gerry, passed away.

Mang Gerry died Monday afternoon, February 3, due to heart failure at the age of 76.

“He’s my number one fan,” Regine said in an interview aired in morning news program “Unang Hirit” Wednesday, February 5. “He never missed a show, a concert, an album.”

The Asia’s Songbird will dedicate her upcoming Valentine concert with Martin Nievera to Mang Gerry. She even promised to sing “The Leader of the Band” which is his favorite song.

A week before her concert, Regine  is trying not to be emotional so she won’t lose her voice.

“Ang prayer ko is to be able to do the concert without crying,” she relates, still trying to laugh despite her loss.

“Ayaw ko rin munang umiyak at maging emotional nitong buong week na ‘to kasi mauubos ko ang boses ko. So iiyak ako after the concert na lang.”

Though Mang Gerry won’t be there physically, Regine believes that, “I’m sure he’ll still be there.”
