Borrowed Wife stars mark Chinese New Year in Bacolod

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two weeks after GMA 7’s The Borrowed Wife made its TV debut, lead stars Camille Prats, Rafael Rosell and Pauleen Luna take a short break to visit the City of Smiles on today, and celebrate the Chinese New Year in the Bacoleños’ way.

Camille, Rafael and Pauleen banner the Kapuso Night at the North Capitol Road at 6 p.m. as part of the celebration of this year’s Bacolaodiat Festival. It will be followed by the awarding of the Chinese Lantern Making Contest and Lantern Dance Competition to be hosted by John Arceo of GMA TV Bacolod.

GMA 7 extends its support to the organizers of the Bacolaodiat Festival by participating in the Horse Lantern Display that showcases 10 giant horse lantern entries, one of which will bring home the Best Kapuso Design Award.

The Kapuso Channel also joined the Dazzling Parade last Jan. 30 with its colorful contingent comprised of Isyu Subong Negrense hosts and various on-cam personalities, winners of the Little Ms. Masskara dressed in Chinese costumes and drumbeaters.

The Bacolaodiat Festival is Bacolod’s Chinese New Year festival and is marked with stunning illuminated giant lanterns, lighted floats, fireworks, a Chinese food alley and cultural dances. The festival carries the theme “Two Cultures, Hundreds of Families Celebrating.”

Highlights of the festival will be seen in Let’s Fiesta TV Special which airs on Feb. 23 via all nine regional stations in Bicol, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Dagupan, Ilocos, GenSan, Bacolod and CDO.
