Nora, Brillante lead Dangal Awards

MANILA, Philippines - Fifty-seven artists from different fields of arts will be honored by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) through the Ani ng Dangal Awards at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila tomorrow, Feb. 2.

Now on its sixth year, the Ani ng Dangal (Harvest of Honors) Awards recognizes artists who have earned international accolades during the past year and aims to highlight the artistic brilliance of the Filipinos. The annual event is part of the Philippine Arts Festival (PAF) 2014, NCCA’s grand event in celebration of the National Arts Month every February. Leading the awarding ceremony is NCCA chairman Felipe de Leon Jr.

Among this year’s awardees are Bridgebury Realty Corp. and Maria Cecilia Cruz (architecture); Adrielle Esteban, Alessandra de Rossi, Anita Linda, Auraeus Solito, Barbara Miguel, Briccio Santos, Brillante Mendoza, Dwein Baltazar, Eddie Garcia, Emmanuel Palo, Kidlat Tahimik, Eugene Domingo, Gutierrez “Teng” Mangansakan II, Ian Loreños, Inshallah Montero, Jericho Rosales, Joel Torre, Jun Lana, Nora Aunor, Marilen Magsaysay, Paul Sta. Ana, Roger Kyle “Bugoy” Cariño, Ron Morales, Roy Iglesias, Sandy Talag and Jameelah Rose del Prado Lineses (cinema); Bayanihan, Boyz Unlimited and Halili-Cruz School of Ballet (dance); Clint Ramos (dramatic arts); Eric delos Santos, ABS-CBN’s Matanglawin: Pasig River Earth Day Special, Nanoy Rafael, Philip Jerome Vaquilar, GMA News TV’s Reel Time, Sergio Bumatay III, Pupil and Jason Tan (multidisciplinary); Merlie Alunan (literary arts); Beverly Caimen, De La Salle University Chorale, Hail Mary the Queen Children’s Choir (Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral in Cubao), Aldeza Ianna dela Torre and Jed Madela (music); and Manny Fajutag, Norman Isaac, Robert John Cabagnot, Trisha Co Reyes, Raymundo Folch, Orley Ypon, Aaron Favila, Jhon Vincent Redrico, Bianca Jamille Aguilar, Jamia Mei Tolentino, Lord Ahzrin Bacalla, Maria Angelica Ramos Tejada, Joel Forte and Jerrica Shi (visual arts).
