DZMM exec clears air on Korina’s departure from show

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – DZMM station manager Marah Faner Capuyan set the record straight as to why Korina Sanchez left her radio show “Rated Korina.”

Early this year, Korina announced that she’ll be leaving her radio program to finish her requirements for her Master’s Degree in Journalism at Ateneo de Manila University.

Speculations came out that this was just Korina’s smokescreen for the issue involving her and CNN anchor Anderson Copper November last year, after she reacted to the latter’s reports during the aftermath of typhoon “Yolanda” in Tacloban City – which she described as “mali-mali.”

Capuyan said that Korina talked to her about leaving the show July last year.

“Korina talked to me as early as later part of July last year,” she recalled. “Nagsabi na talaga siya, nagpaalam na siya na kailangan na niyang tutukan ang kanyang pag-aaral.”

She said tried to convince the TV and radio host to try arranging her schedule. Yet due to her absences in the university, it’ll be hard for her.

“But unfortunately, doon talaga [sa radio show] sumakto ‘yong schedule ng pag-aaral niya. So as early as August, ako at si Dingdong [Marco] were informed about it and kami ni Ms. Ging [Reyes] ng INCA were already discussing kung anong pwedeng ilagay na programa doon sa timeslot na ‘yon,” Capuyan further explained.

Sakto

After several meetings, they finally decided to team up Amy Perez and Marc Logan in the radio show “Sakto.”

The radio program, according to Capuyan ,is “isang programa na parang breather from all the hard news and commentaries. So we have now Sakto, ‘yon ang objective ng programa na dapat mapasaya, mapagaan ang feeling ng mga listeners at viewers natin.”

Meanwhile, Amy is very happy to be hosting a radio program again with DZMM.

“Saktong sakto, sapat na sapat, maligayang maligaya,” she replied when asked how she’s feeling about her new radio show. “And of course thankful dahil nga sa naging sobrang warm ‘yong pag-welcome sa akin ulit and thankful dahil nabigyan ng pagkakataon na umuwi ulit.”

Marc and Amy admitted that there’s pressure on their part since they’re taking the timeslot that Korina left.

“We can never fill naman the shoes of Ma’am Korina,” he said. “Meron kaming narinig sa kanya, na nag-e-expect sa amin na, ‘kaya naman ni Marc at Amy ‘yan.’ So si Madam na mismo ang nanawagan na give us a chance na maging maaliwalas ang timeslot na iniiwan niya.”

â€œSakto” features different segments like “Panalo Ka Diyan” where parents can showcase the achievements of their children; “Lutong Bahay” where they give budget-friendly food plans; “Guest Who,” which features trending personalities; and “Nay Ko Po” and “’Tay Naman” where moms and dads are given the spotlight.

“Sakto” airs at 10 a.m. from Monday to Friday at DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM TeleRadyo.
