CNN report ranks Mövenpick No. 2 Most Googled Phl Destination
My good friend Manny Osmeña recently shared with me the good news that Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu landed the No. 2 spot on CNN’s year-ender report on the Top 10 Most Googled Destinations in the Philippines for 2013. Manny is the group chairman of Oikonomos International Resources Corporation, which includes Mövenpick Hotel and Manny O Wines.
According to an article written by Frances Cha of CNN published last Dec. 19 titled Most Googled Destinations in 2013 (http://edition.cnn.com/2013/12/18/travel/most-searched-destinations/), Google’s annual year-in-review Zeitgeist charts unveil the most-searched travel destinations by country. The data is divided into two kinds of lists. The first shows the trending destinations (those that have the greatest growth in searches compared to 2012) while the second bares the rankings of topics with the largest total search volumes.
Also included in the list of top domestic travel destination searches, by search volume in the Philippines are: (No. 1) Sky Ranch Tagaytay, (No. 3) Tubbataha Reef, (No. 4) Pico de Loro, (No. 5) Tugawe Cove Resort, (No. 6) Potipot Island, (No. 7) Amana Waterpark, (No. 8) Misibis Bay, (No. 9) Nuvali and (No. 10) Laiya resorts.
It is not surprising that Mövenpick Hotel is on the list of Zeitgeist charts because it boasts of world-class service and amenities. Nestled on the shores of Mactan Island, Mövenpick is an ideal home away from home since it offers contemporary style with a twist of fun and fresh appeal for both leisure and business travelers.
The five-star beachfront hotel is famous for its elegant accommodation, lush tropical gardens and fabulous restaurants showcasing stunning ocean views. Its key features include the best ocean view of Mactan, Cebu; private white, sandy beach; 10 minutes away from the airport; innovative culinary concepts; versatile function areas; and its Ibiza Beach Club (the hotel’s on-site restaurant and lounge bar).

Aiming to inspire a nation
Seventeen-year-old entrepreneur Sabrina Co (photo) recently launched a line of home fragrances that evokes the smell of the Philippines. The brand is called ATIN (“oursâ€) which also stands for Aiming to Inspire A Nation.
She explains, “I became very fond of hopping from perfumery to perfumery, and getting sniff of the variety of smells that they had to offer. I guess that was my inspiration for my choice in setting up a business to do with fragrances. I also wanted to create scents that represented my home country so that when tourists visit, they can also take back the ‘scents of the Philippines’ in a bottle! Together with help from my parents, relatives and close friends, we came up with the smells of ATIN.â€
I met Sabrina when I sat beside her during a product launch. She asked her mother, my dear friend Ruth Velasco Co, if she could give me some of her products, which I could use and share with my friends last Yuletide season.
Using the finest ingredients, ATIN has created fragrances that capture a various collection of scents found throughout our country. Each of the original 12 scents evokes the best fragrances of the Philippines: Piña, mango tree, fruit market, coconut palm, sampaguita, milagrosa, Intramuros, Palawan, Hardin, Boracay, Burnham Park and dalandan.
ATIN’s collection consists of reed diffusers, automatic air fragrance dispenser, scented soy wax candles, and room and linen sprays. ATIN is a social enterprise. For every purchase made, it allows ATIN to contribute to the Jollibee Group Foundation’s Busog, Lusog, Talino (BLT) school feeding program as well as an alternative donation to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
ATIN is available at all Kultura Concept Store branches in Mall of Asia, Makati Annex, Megamall A and SM Aura Premier.
You can check the website at www.atin.com.ph. For product inquiries, call 631-5470.
