MANILA, Philippines – The 39th Metro Manila Film Festival has proven itself immune to controversy, at least when ticket sales are concerned.
According to a report aired on ABS-CBN’s primetime news program “TV Patrol" on Monday, January 6, the box-office of this year’s MMFF has already reached Php934 million in 12 days.

The Vic Sotto-starrer “My Little Bossings†remains the film festival’s overall top grosser, followed by Vice Ganda’s “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,†the Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla horror film “Pagpag,†and the Eugene Domingo comedy “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel.â€
However, the report added that “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy†led the box-office during days 10 to 12 of the MMFF. The film festival will run until today, January 7.

The annual film festival was not without controversy this year, after the producers of “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel†questioned the awards results of the MMFF. In a radio interview last Sunday, January 6, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Francis Tolentino defended the judging process of the MMFF jurors.
The other MMFF entries include the film festival Best Picture winner “10,000 Hours,†“Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir†and “Kaleidoscope World.â€
