Vice defends Maricel’s MMFF award, denies tension with Kris

MANILA, Philippines – Vice Ganda believes co-star Maricel Soriano deserves the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actress award she won for her role in the comedy “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy.”

Some naysayers questioned Maricel’s win in the annual film festival saying she should have been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category instead.

The comedian added it was a privilege for him to work with Maricel.

Meanwhile, Vice dismissed rumors that there is mounting tension between him and Kris Aquino.

Kris and her son James “Bimby” Yap Jr. star in “My Little Bossings,” the top-grosser in this year’s MMFF.

Vice’s “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” meanwhile, is in second place in the box-office.

“Walang ganun. Sobrang close namin Kris. Wala kaming ganun,” he said.

The “It’s Showtime” co-host even shared that Kris joked about his loss in the MMFF Best Actor category during the festival’s awarding ceremony.

So doon ako dumaan tapos bumeso ako. Kami ba, kung hindi ganun ka-close, maggaganunan?” he said.
