Celebrities’ Yolanda stories in YES!
MANILA, Philippines - For its first offering in 2014, YES! Magazine gathered moving stories and over 200 photos of heroism and humanity among the rubbles of Yolanda, with special focus on the different ways showbiz personalities responded to the call for help.
Angel Locsin, for instance, who after auctioning off her Chevrolet Chevelle personally visited Iloilo to bring relief goods to Yolanda survivors. Marian Rivera, for her part, visited the far-flung barangays of Sambag, Canaocanao and Managasi in Cebu and pledged for more solid and long-term help along with GMA 7’s Kapuso Foundation. These are just two examples, among the many who are featured herein, of celebrities using their status to give back.
Also in this month’s issue, Maja Salvador welcomes YES! into her kitchen and dining room, and shares her best-loved recipes namely Grilled Chicken and Peppers + Basil Pesto Spread Sandwich; Walnut, Orange, Gorgonzola + Mixed Greens and Rockets with Fresh Citrus Vinaigrette; and Roasted Tomato + Garlic Basil Pasta. The Kapamilya star says cooking is her retreat from her public life as a celebrity. “Pag artista kasi, pag lalabas ng bahay, para ka nang nagtatrabaho e, di ba? Pero kung nasa loob ka lang ng bahay, relax time mo, luto-luto.â€
Thes new-year issue also includes a guide to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival movies and photos from the fun kiddie birthday bashes of celebrity couples Manny and Jinkee Pacquiao, Marco Alcaraz and Lara Quigaman, Katrina Halili and Kris Lawrence, Yasmien Kurdi and Rey Sodevilla, and Daphne Oseña and Patrick Paez; as well as the kids of single parents Andi Eigenmann and Ruffa Gutierrez.
