Toni Gonzaga on marriage: We’re waiting for God’s perfect time

MANILA, Philippines –Toni Gonzaga said she’s already ready to settle down but is waiting for “God’s perfect time” before tying the knot with boyfriend Paul Soriano.

The 29-year-old Kapamilya artist said in a recent interview with the entertainment press: “Siguro naman pag ganitong edad ka na, ready ka na dapat.Ang hirap naman sabihin sa isang babae, ‘Ha, 29 na hindi pa ready?’”

“No one and nothing is stopping us. We are waiting for God’s perfect time,” the actress-TV host explained.

She also said, “Ready na ako kahit anong ibigay sa akin ng life ko ngayon. I've reached a point na whatever life is going to offer me, I'm going to take it. When that time finally happens, that's something I'm going to embrace wholeheartedly.”

Toni revealed that she used to tell her director-boyfriend not to propose to her yet. However, it came to a point wherein Toni realize she should just let things be.

“Dumating ako sa point na, ‘Hindi na kita pipigilin. Kung saan mo ma-feel na sabihin sa iyo ni Lord (na okay na),” she said.

Toni is set to star in the sitcom “Home Sweetie Home” with John Lloyd Cruz. The weekly comedy will premiere on Sunday, January 5.

Won’t Paul be jealous of John Lloyd, as he will play Toni’s onscreen husband in the sitcom?

“Siguro sa dami ng nagawa kong trabaho noon, saka nakapartner ko na rin, never naman nagkaroon ng ganun (selos) kasi for almost six years nabuo na yung trust na alam niyang iba yung trabaho, iba yung personal,” Toni explained.

Toni worked with John Lloyd in 2010 movie “My Amnesia Girl.”

As this will be the first time Toni will play a married character, she said her role as a wife in “Home Sweetie Home” is her way of venturing “into something different”

“This project came in the right age,” she said.

As for mother roles, Toni quipped: “Pag mother na ako, mother na rin (ang character ko).”
