Vina Morales hesitant to give acting tips to newbies

MANILA, Philippines – Though she’s been in the industry since she was eight, Vina Morales is not comfortable giving acting advice to new celebrities.

“Nakakahiya naman kasi magbigay ng tips na acting, e,” she replied when asked if she gives acting tips to her “Maria Mercedes” co-star Jessy Mendiola.

“I’m sure she knows what she’s doing,” Vina added. “Nandyan din naman yung director to guide her, para lang din kasi it’s not comfortable for me na, ‘uy yung acting mo…’”

This is the first time she worked with Jessy in a soap opera, where she portrays the role of Magnolia, Maria Mercedes’ mom. She commended Jessy’s acting and even said that, “it’s fun working with her.”

Yet when it comes to personal matters, the Kapamilya singer-actress doesn’t want to cross the line.

“If I would have a chance to talk to her ng mga personal, medyo mahirap, e,” she said with a smile. “I’m not that…siguro kung may longer time pa, may pagkakataon kami na makapag-usap nang personal.”

“Dito talaga sa tent wala kaming magagawa kundi mag-uusap di ba?” she also adds. “But wala kami yung like personal na pag-uusap. It’s mostly about what’s going on the set, about the character yung ganun.

“And mostly sa sobrang pagod namin, tinutulog na lang namin kasi medyo nag-e-everyday taping kami ngayon.”

Meanwhile, Vina admits that she can relate with her character Magnolia in a sense that her character is “a loving mother definitely, a survivor, a fighter. May mga pagkakamali siya sa buhay niya na tinutuwid.”

But she does admit that it took her time to decide if she’ll accept the role since she will play the role of a mother to a 27 year old, when in reality she’s a mother of a four-year-old girl.

 â€œIt’s not really a problem to me na i-prove ko sa kanila na I can be a young mom. Artista ka, e, so pwede ka mag-portray ng anything,” she then said.

“As an actress, hindi ko iniisip yun, sa character ako nakabase. Thankful naman ako na nagugustuhan nila kung paano ko pino-portray.”
