Derek defends Anne: ‘We all make mistakes’

MANILA, Philippines – “Anne’s not like that.”

Thus said Derek Ramsay when asked about Anne Curtis and her reported drunken nightclub incident last November in Taguig City.

“I know Anne. For me it’s hard to believe that she would do that. But I wasn’t there. But from what I know of Anne, she would never say anything like that,” the Kapatid actor told members of the press at the set of his TV5 weekly drama “For Love or Money” recently.

Derek, who worked with Anne in the 2011 movie “No Other Woman” and the 2012 movie “A Secret Affair,’ understands that the Kapamilya actress had already apologized for the incident and had admitted that “most” of what was reported about it is true.

But he explained: “Until Anne tells me what she did, that’s when I’ll believe.”

Of course, the “For Love or Money” actor acknowledges that Anne is also at fault but said, “maybe it was a moment of weakness. We all have that. We all make mistakes.”

He further said: “If she did that, I’m sure it will never happen again.”

A big year

Meanwhile, the Kapatid actor describes 2013 as “another successful year.”

The actor had headlined two shows in TV5 this year: “Undercover” and the ongoing “For Love or Money,” which airs Thursday nights. A movie with Viva Films is also in the works for a 2014 release.

“I’m very happy with what’s happening this year with regard to my career. I continue to be blessed. It started since 2011, I’ve been  having great years,” Derek said.

He added, “And I’m gonna enter the next year with my head held high and with a positive attitude that I’ll have another great year.”

Derek’s one-month relationship with Kapamilya actress Cristine Reyes made headlines. Does he think 2014 will be a good year for his love life?

“We’ll see. These are the things you pray for. Maybe, we’ll see,” he said.

As for his 2014 plans, Derek said he is planning to take a leave of absence next year to watch the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil with his friends.
