Julia Montes won't mind playing kontrabida again

MANILA, Philippines – She received her biggest break playing the iconic antagonist Clara in the 2010 remake of the soap opera “Mara Clara” but has since moved on to play lead roles in hit shows such as “Walang Hanggan” and “Muling Buksan ang Puso.”

Yet given the chance, Julia Montes said she would not hesitate doing another kontrabida role despite having played a primetime leading lady.

“In a way, iniisip ko minsan na exciting pa rin gumawa ng kontrabida role kasi doon ako nag-start. Saka yung mga audience naman, hindi na sila masyadong close-minded na kapag kontrabida, galit din sila sa artista sa totoong buhay,” she told members of the press during cable channel Cinema One’s fans day for Enrique Gil and Julia Montes on Monday, December 16.

“Matalino na ang mga viewers. So in a way excited ako if ever mabibigyan ako ng ganung role,” Julia added.

The 18-year-old actress is currently shooting a movie. Although she refused to give out details about it, Julia said the movie excites her because it is different from anything she’s done before.

“Excited ako for my role kasi hindi siya yung normal na ako. Kung nakita nila ako sa ‘Walang Hanggan’ na parang ganun, ito parang medyo iba naman. May bali,” she explained.

Julia is putting love on the back seat as she focuses on her career. The actress was previously linked to actor Enchong Dee. “Ayaw ko i-rush ang mga bagay bagay,” she said.

‘Hintay-hintay na lang’

The young Kapamilya star also asks fans to support her “Muling Buksan ang Puso” leading man Enrique Gil in ‘Mira Bella,” his upcoming soap opera with Julia Barretto.

Julia is aware there is a bit of clamor from fans of her partnership to Enrique to extend their love team, but explained: “Gaya ng lagi kong sinasabi, normal naman na umiikot kami sa iba’t ibang love team.”

She further said: “Maliit lang ang show business. Babalik at babalik naman kami in the future, kung mabibigyan ng pagkakataon na mag-love team ulit. Hintay-hintay na lang.”
