After wedding, Melai and Jason now looking forward to baby

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Almost a week into their marriage, newlyweds Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco said they are now looking forward to becoming parents.

The two tied the knot last Tuesday, December 10, at the Holy Cross Parish in Calumpang, General Santos City, following their admission last September that Melai is pregnant.

“Actually, mas excited kami sa baby kaysa sa wedding,” Melai said in an interview with ABS-CBN’s “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, September 15.

Kasi yung wedding, parang formality. Parang blessing na lang. Kasi nauna e (yung baby).”

What are the couple’s plans now that they have gotten married?

Melai joked: “Alangan namang i-gala namin. Ano ito, pang-mayaman?”

Melai and Jason have faced a number of adversities before they married — including a breakup last year and a supposed tiff with “Banana Split” cast members Angelica Panganiban and Pooh for reportedly criticizing Jason’s capacity to take care of Melai.

Jason was also involved in a brawl with “Banana Split” cast member John Prats last March for reportedly making fun of Melai

The comedienne admits she still has lingering fears in her relationship with Jason, but she leaves it all up it God.

“Yung fear naman, lagi naman andyan. And kaming dalawa, dumaan naman kami sa (wedding) seminar. Kahit maliit lang pera ninyo, magpakasal kayo dahil emotionally ready kayo’,” Melai said.

She added: “Sabi talaga, God is the center to our relationship. So yun yung number one na iniisip namin.

Time heals.”

“Time heals all wounds. “In the end, pag nagkita kayo or pag nagkabati na kayo, baka mas lalong tumibay (ang pagkakaibigan).”
