Earth Day Jam in Visayas, Pampanga
MANILA, Philippines - After its success in Manila, Earth Day Jam conquered new shores with its Earth Day Jam on Tour. Armed with a small yet solid group of artists and musicians, the team behind Earth Day Jam brought the same “Movement Through Music†concept to other parts of the country.
At The Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu, Earth Day Jam opened the concert to a jam-packed crowd with performances from local bands Bambu Spliff, Dance With me Kris and Kaliftra. Eco-artist-producer Lou Bonnevie performed with much gusto that got the crowd up on their feet. Rivermaya, Nina and Noel Cabangon were at their best elements. The group then flew to neighboring Dumaguete City for another packed performance, only this time to be joined by local band Skillage and Paolo Santos at the Robinsons Activity Center. In less than a week, Earth Day Jam visited the Marquee Mall in Pampanga with an added performance by the Bloomfields.
The events, hosted by Karel Marquez, Midi G. and Danica Sotto, all stayed true to their roots. The all-important theme of environmentalism was never forgotten. “Green†games were played, and seedlings from partner government agency Department of Environment and Natural Resources were given to the audience. Guest speakers gave talks on how to help in the fight against climate change. Audio-visual presentations produced by Earthday Jam director Toto Gentica educated youngsters on how ill effects of manmade pollution can be mitigated through concerted efforts.
Several relief goods were collected to benefit typhoon survivors. The tour was mounted by Earthday Jam Foundation with the support of Ayala Center Cebu, Robinsons Place Dumaguete, Marquee Mall Pampanga with Energy Development Corporation, Manhattan Suites Inn, Gery’s Grill, City Government of Cebu and Dumaguete, Provincial Government of Negros Oriental and The Philippine STAR.
