Mr. & Miss Philippine Movies of 1967

Although they didn’t appear together on the big screen, Nestor de Villa and Marlene Dauden nevertheless shared the limelight as Mr. & Miss Philippine Movies of 1967. They came out as the top winners in a popularity poll.

Nestor and Marlene started in different studios in the ’50s. Nestor with LVN and Marlene with Sampaguita. When the two stars free-lanced, they didn’t get a chance to be teamed up in the movies.

With Nida Blanca, Nestor starred in LVN comedies and musicals which turned out to be blockbusters. Marlene was one of Sampaguita’s top dramatic actresses, winning a number of awards.

Marlene is based in the US with her family. Nestor shines in another world. —RKC
