It’s a season of ‘gold’ on Discovery Channel

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- It is a season of “gold” on  Discovery Channel this December as “Jungle Gold” and “Gold Rush: South America” go on air.

In the return of the six-part series “Jungle Gold,” George Wright and Scott Lomu are set for a new adventure as they return to Ghana.

While they are still working on paying their $1 million debt due to the United States property crash, they’re also in the works to mine Africa’s second largest gold-producing country to become rich and provide for their families.

With the financial help from Scott’s father-in-law Bud and British mining expat David Thomas, Scott and George will overcome the challenges of mining the gold to reach their dreams.

Meanwhile, there are new challenges and dilemmas for Todd Hoffman, Fred Hurt, and Parker Schnabeltake in the four-part special of “Gold Rush: South America.”

Hoffman meanwhle targets Peru, Chile, and Guyana to mine as much gold, just like what he did last season where he took home $1.2-million worth of gold.

But then, the challenges are tough as he need to survive jungles, deadly roads and turf wars with local miners. But the real challenge is to choose if he’ll return to Klondike or stay and continue his operations in South America.

Fred and Parker or more known as “Dakota Boys”, on the other hand  set off to explore the virgin grounds from Alaska to Cahoon Creek, which could only be accessed by plane or foot.

Parker, however, faces a bigger struggle as he needs to choose between college or continue mining with his mentor Tony Beets.

“Gold Rush: South America” and “Jungle Gold” will premier on December 9, 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. respectively at Discovery Channel.
