Stars aid in relief efforts at the Globe iPhone launch

MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom used its recent launch of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c to augment its disaster relief efforts to help victims of typhoon-stricken communities in Visayas.

Helping Globe collect donations via GCASH and in-kind relief goods from subscribers were ABS-CBN talents Khalil Ramos and Robi Domingo.

With a simpler and more austere launch to welcome the latest iPhone models, Globe encouraged its subscribers who claimed their iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c to donate via GCASH and bring in-kind donations. Dedicated booths were set-up at the venue to accommodate GCASH donations and receive relief goods from subscribers.

The scaled-down launch was part of Globe Bangon Pinoy (www.globe.com.ph/bangonpinoy), an integrated program that allows communities devastated by the recent calamity to benefit from relief operations, free call and text services, network restoration, and a series of community-rebuilding activities. It was first introduced by Globe in 2009 after typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng wreaked havoc in the country.

“As part of our commitment to help in nation-building efforts after the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda that affected millions of lives, we decided to scale down our iPhone launch this year and instead used this platform to augment what we’re doing for our kababayans in the Visayas,” said Peter Bithos, chief operating advisor for consumer business at Globe. “This year’s launch also focused on providing a delightful customer experience for subscribers who have trusted our expertise in iPhone and leadership in postpaid.”

Globe recently launched the iPhone 5s and 5c under its suite of first-ever fully-customizable iPhone postpaid plans, including an exclusive upgrade program dubbed as Globe iPhone Forever (www.globe.com.ph/iphoneforever) that allows new and existing subscribers to enjoy the latest iPhone every year for as low as P1,599 per month.

The postpaid plan bundle comes with one gigabyte (GB) of consumable Long Term Evolution (LTE) data plan monthly that allows mobile internet surfing of up to 42 Mbps and a monthly consumable amount for call and text combo services. Subscribers also get one-month free subscription to Globe Gadget Care, the country’s first-ever mobile phone protection program which covers theft and accidental damage, as well as free access to Facebook mobile until January 2014.

Globe set up spacious waiting lounge for customers complete with entertainment, served food and drinks to customers while on queue, partnered with suppliers of phone accessories and promoted an efficient service delivery system from registration to actual pick-up.
