MANILA, Philippines - Scintillating doesn’t start to describe Sarah Geronimo’s Perfect 10 concert at the Araneta Coliseum last Nov. 15.
The glittering show was a celebration of her 10th anniversary in showbiz and it highlighted her achievements as a singer, actress and TV host.
But if you think Sarah’s performance at the Big Dome was electrifying, the repeat show tomorrow, Nov. 30, at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena promises to be bigger, more colorful and more spectacular.
Viva Entertainment, the producer of Perfect 10, has hinted that the MOA Arena concert will be packed with surprises.
It will be hard to top what Sarah dished out at the Araneta Coliseum. She told the audience at the Big Dome that she worked hard for what she has achieved. “Destiny is a choice, not a chance,†Sarah said, and the crowd roared in approval.
A video showed the four-year-old Sarah singing Sino ang Baliw at a prayer rally. She said she was too young to grasp the meaning of the song, but her parents explained it to her.
The show started with a minute of prayer for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda and Sarah pledging part of the concert’s proceeds to them. She said she couldn’t get the images of the tragedy off her mind.
Sarah started off the show with Alicia Keys’ Brand New Me. She followed it up with original songs from her albums.
She gave a hint about her past romances when she performed Sweetest Mistake and Eyes on Fire.
Her rendition of Creep was vocal cord-challenging. “If I don’t hit a high note, will you still love me?†she jokingly asked the audience.
At one point, Sarah shouted, “To all my haters, I love you! Thank you for inspiring me.â€
She had a reunion onstage with TV pals Rachelle Ann Go, Christian Bautista and Mark Bautista. It’s been quite a while since they got together.
Sarah and her guests, Regine Velasquez and Lea Salonga, did a medley of Barbara Streisand songs People, Memory, Papa Can You Hear Me, Tell Him and Somewhere that had the audience on their feet.
Lea and Sarah were coaches in the recent The Voice of the Philippines talent search.
Prior to Perfect 10, Sarah’s Ikot-Ikot music video zoomed to No. 1 spot last month in MYX, outperforming the music videos of Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
After finishing her stint in The Voice of the Philippines, Sarah focused on preparations for Perfect 10 — from the song line-up to the costumes to stage design. It’s hard to imagine that it was a decade ago when a little girl with a big heart and a remarkable voice shot to fame after winning the popular talent show, Star For A Night.
Sarah envisions Perfect 10 to be the mother of all concerts, bigger than her most successful concert to date, 24/SG.
