True to her promise, 2013 Miss World Megan Young arrived on a Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong Wednesday night to personally deliver funds she has raised for the victims of Supertyphoon Yolanda.

In a report to Funfare Update, “beauty experts” Felix Manuel, Gery Yumping, Joey Cezeare and Francis Calubaquib said that Megan was able to raise $26,000 during her recent US visit and around $100,000 in Hong Kong last weekend, with the help of 2012 Miss World Wenxia Yu (of China).

“In Jakarta where she graced the launch of the Miss World coffee-table book at the Grand Hotel, Megan collected more than $80,000,” said Felix. “Only 1,000 hard-bound copies of the book were printed, featuring thousands of images from the 2013 Miss World pageant held in Indonesia. At the Philippine Embassy in Indonesia, Megan was welcomed by Ambassador Maria Rosario Aguinaldo.”

Megan was quoted as saying, “Thank you to each and everyone who have donated. Any help from anyone is a big help.”

Indeed, Megan is living up to the Miss World objective…Beauty with a purpose.

Briefly noted

= Postscript on the Pacquiao-Rios fight in Macau from election lawyer Romy Macalintal who was there: The human and compassionate side of Manny Pacquiao prevented him from going into the “kill” in the final round. Surely, what’s the use in hurting your opponent when you know you are leading by a mile without any danger? Brandon Rios is lucky that Manny has the heart to know when to stop hurting his opponent when there’s nothing more for him to prove. Manny intentionally stopped or opted not to deliver the “Yolanda” punch to prevent a total devastation of an already devastated Rios after he allowed himself to be Manny’s punching bag for the entire duration of the fight.

= And from celebrity lawyer Katrina Legarda, this invitation: Calling all parents, school administrators, teachers, social workers and other individuals working with children.
