World AIDS Day in Medtalk

MANILA, Philippines - According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or AIDS has claimed the lives of over 25 million people with around 1.7 million dying of AIDS and Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection or HIV in 2011.

HIV is transmitted mainly through unprotected sexual intercourse, contaminated blood transfusion, breastfeeding, among many others, with roughly 2.5 million individuals infected in 2011.

In observance of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, join Medtalk host Angel Jacob (photo) and the show’s guest doctors in raising awareness about the killer disease, focusing on its impact specifically in the Philippines.
