MANILA, Philippines - The Filipino fans of American rock band One Republic didn’t STOP singing with them, while STARING as they perform on stage during their first concert in Manila.
Their one-night concert for their latest album “Native†happened Wednesday night, November 4, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The band teased their fans as they opened their show performing in silhouette, as a white cloth covers the stage.
Their fans immediately became giddy as they performed one of their popular songs “Secrets,†which is included in the official soundtrack of the film “Sorcerer’s Apprentice.â€
As the crowd sang along with their every song, like “All the Right Moves,†“What You Wanted,†and “Stop and Stare†the band got overwhelmed with their Filipino fans’ support.
The band’s lead vocalist Ryan Tedder even said, “This is super cool, very crazy! It took way too long for us to make it [here] — I’m sorry about that.â€
The crowd, aside from singing along with their songs, started jumping up and down as they performed the song “Counting Stars.†The people can’t help it because even Ryan was jumping up and down as he plays the tambourine.
After the upbeat songs, everyone swayed as Ryan performed in solo their popular single “Apologize.â€
He also asked the crowd to perform a mash up with him of the songs “Cry Me a River†and “We Found Love.†After the performance Ryan was amazed of people and said, “You guys could be the most musical country — according to Wikipedia,†which made everyone laugh.
Some other songs that they performed are “Burning Bridges,†“the acoustic version of “Preacher,†“Can’t Stop,†and “Marching On.â€
Before performing the song “Die Young,†one of their fans threw on stage a character hat that looks like a fox. This made Ryan sing the now popular hit of Ylvis “What the Fox Say?†And for the name of fun, he even wore the hat all throughout the end of the show.
Until the end, as they performed their last two songs “I Lived†and “If I Lose Myself,†the people never got tired to sing, dance, take pictures, and record the band’s performances.
And because of the warm welcome they had on their first concert here in Manila, the One Republic vocalist Ryan Tedder promised that “we’ll come back. Let’s make it two nights if we can.â€
