Why Michael V. does not have an exclusive contract

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Michael V. admits he has received offers to sign an exclusive contract from other networks other than GMA-7. But the comedian said he chooses to remain a freelance artist because he does not want to restrict his creativity.

Speaking to the press during the launch of his new TV5 game show “Killer Karaoke Pinoy Naman,” Michael V. said being an exclusive artist of a network may mean doing a project he may not like.

“Minsan, hindi sa pag-aano… may mga show na madaliang kinunseptualize, pinilit lang na maitawid, para lang magawa for the talent,” he explained. “Ayoko naman ng ganun.”

Michael V. added, “Ang advantage na nakikita ko is yung freedom to do whatever you want, whatever pleases you, at saka yung tingin mo e makakatulong sa career mo.”

But he’s not closing his doors to doing another show with the network besides “Killer Karaoke Pinoy Naman.” Michael V. is also not closing his doors when it comes to signing an exclusive contract with TV5 in the future.

He explained, “Hindi naman ako nagsasara ng pinto. Pero, as of this moment, bound pa rin ako nung mga show na ginagawa ko sa GMA.”

He is currently doing “Pepito Manaloto” and “Bubble Gang” with GMA-7. He also co-hosts the noontime variety show “Eat Bulaga.”

“One step at a time,” Michael V. shared.

"Killer Karaoke Pinoy Naman" will start airing on Saturday, Nov. 16.
