John Ford Coley to donate talent fees to Cebu & Bohol quake victims

MANILA, Philippines - A few hours after the 7.2 magnitude earthquake shook Bohol and Cebu, John Ford immediately contacted me and inquired if we were OK. I answered in the affirmative but informed him that there was massive damage in both cities where he was scheduled to perform; Cebu on Nov. 15 and Tagbilaran on Nov. 17.

I added that our shows in those cities are likely to be canceled. Two days passed and he contacted me again and suggested he’d like to do fund-raising shows for both cities and offered to donate his talent fees for the Philippine tour to start the ball rolling.

This wasn’t the first time John Ford did fundraisers for calamity victims in a country he considers his second home, the Philippines. He’s done it several times in the past. Upon learning of his gesture, his Pinoy back-up band led by Rex Pili and musical director Carlo Gaa also committed their talent fees to the quake victims. 

John Ford’s first concert will be at the Grand Ballroom of the Solaire Resort and Casino on Nov. 13 where he will be performing all his immortal hits including Just Tell Me You Love Me, I’d Really Love To See You Tonight, Sad To Belong, We’ll Never Have To Say Goodbye Again, Love Is The Answer, Nights Are Forever, Broken Hearted Me, Longer, Leader Of The Band, Sometimes When We Touch, etc. Opening the show is Hollywood singing sensation Kyle Vincent and the Pinoy Karen Carpenter Abbee M.

At the Solaire show, John will pass a basket around and the audience can give whatever donation they can afford which he will hand-carry to the quake victims in Cebu and Bohol. There will also be a charity auction where music memorabilia will be sold.

After the charity concerts, John Ford will perform at Widus Convention Center in Clark on Nov. 19, Youth Square in Hong Kong on Nov. 21 and SMX Convention Center Davao on Nov. 28. The Tagbilaran concert will possibly be held beside one of the ruined churches. The Cebu fundraiser is headed by Park Lane Hotel GM Cenelyn Maguilomotan. Tickets for the Solaire show are available at all SM Ticket outlets, Ticketworld outlets and the concierge of the Solaire Resort and Casino. Tickets for the Davao show are available at SM Tickets Davao, SM Premier Lanang, SM Davao and SMX Convention Center Davao.
