MANILA, Philippines - Celebrities took to the social networking site Twitter to express their concern and ask their followers for prayers for the victims of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that rattled parts of Visayas on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
The earthquake has now killed more than 100 people, the Office of Civil Defense said on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
On Twitter, the hashtags #earthquakePH and #PrayforVisayas are among the top two trending topics in the Philippines Wednesday morning, along with the phrase "Bohol and Cebu", two areas hit by the earthquake.
“Praying for everyone's safety after the earth quake that hit Bohol and Cebu,†actress Anne Curtis said on Twitter. She added, “Let's continue to pray for those who were injured and the strength of each town/city that now has to deal with the aftermath.â€
Former ABS-CBN talent and now popular Korean pop star Sandara Park also expressed her concern for those affected by the quake.

“As God is my witness, I have been crying while monitoring the news back home,†said TV5 star Sharon Cuneta.
“Visayas and Mindanao have always been so good & loving to me, and are both dear to my heart... Cebu and I have had a "love affair" since I was just starting out... And Cebuanos hold a very special place in my heart... You will all overcome, my beloved Cebu, my Bohol -- my Visayas & Mindanao... If only I could hold you in my arms & tell you that you will recover & will do so wonderfully... And that you are all in my heart... I love you very much... Please be strong... God be with you all,†she added.
Other celebs who expressed concern and asked for prayers following the quake include Regine Velasquez, Angel Locsin and Vice Ganda.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recorded 823 aftershocks following the earthquake on Tuesday, according to reports.
