Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2: ‘Yummy-ness’ galore

MANILA, Philippines - Imagine a giant cheeseburger chasing you, monster tacos terrorizing you and you having to wade in a pond of thick maple syrup with pancakes afloat. Those might be unthinkable to happen, but in the much-awaited sequel, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, those savory scenes actually take place — on the big screen, that is.

If you still haven’t had a fill, consider this odd and unlikely combinations of food and animals with a bunch of shrim-panzees, taco-diles, fla-mangoes, water-melephants, hippotatomuses, banana-ostriches, double bacon cheese-spiders, mosquitoasts and apple pie-thons.

Viewers can feast on this appetizing “foodimals,” plus dozens of zucchinis, pickles, marshmallows, spaghettis, tomatoes, eggplants, carrots, melons and a talking strawberry in this delectable sequel.

Inspired by a popular children’s book, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 continues the saga of fearless inventor Flint Lockwood. The light-hearted animation happens in the fictitious city of San Franjose, California where Flint gets his dream job given by his idol, Chester V.

With the help of his girlfriend Sam, dad Tim and friends, Flint gets to save Shallow Falls before the jungle of “foodimals” take-over. He also renews his relationship with his widower dad whom he previously had unsettled issues.

From start to finish, the big screen gets super loaded with colorful and awesome images of food complemented by the interesting characters. The images, especially to those who love food, will definitely delight young viewers and adults alike.

An interesting voice cast ignites the life of the film, with Bill Hader (as Flint Lockwood) and Anna Farris (as his girlfriend Samantha Sparks), who both reprised their roles in the original movie.

The couple is joined by Benjamin Bratt as cameraman Manny, James Caan as dad Tim Lockwood, Neil Patrick Harris as Steve the Monkey and Andy Samberg as chicken Brent McHale. New voice cast are Will Forte as Chester V, Kristen Schaal as Barb the talking orangutan and Terry Crews as Officer Earl.

New, a song by Paul McCartney, is part of the soundtrack of the film and is also included in McCartney’s latest album.
