Here’s a rare photo of movie queen Rosa del Rosario showing her beautiful profile. The formal studio-photo shoot heightened Rosa’s American mestiza features, full lips, prominent cheekbones, expressive eyes, aquiline nose.
Accompanying the photo of Rose is the ad of one of her starrers in the late ’40s, the musical melodrama Mag-Inang Ulila, whose theme song was Dasal ng Pag-ibig. Rose’s movies were noted for their music, the three most famous of which were Bakya Mo Neneng, Bulaklak at Paru-paro and Caprichosa.
Future National Artist Felipe Padilla de Leon composed Dasal ng Pag-ibig, which Rose did for Royal Productions. The studios made two of her most memorable movies: Darna and its sequel. — RKC
