Barber’s Tales competes at Abu Dhabi Film Festival

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Jun Robles Lana’s Barber’s Tales is competing at the 15th Abu Dhabi International Film Festival in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oct. 24 to Nov. 5.

It’s the second international filmfest where Barber’s Tales is competing. The other is the Tokyo International Film festival this month.

In Abu Dhabi, Barber’s Tales will compete with 15 others for the Black Pearl Award-Narrative ($100,000), Special Jury Award ($50,000), Best Actor and Best Actress awards.

Based on a story by Elmer Garchalian, Peter Ong, Benedict Meque and Lana (who also wrote the script), Barber’s Tales stars Eugene Domingo (photo) in her first full-length drama role, together with Iza Calzado, Gladys Reyes, Shamaine Buencamino and Eddie Garcia. It’s the story of a woman (played by Eugene) who inherited a barber shop from her dead husband.

The movie is produced by Tony Tuviera, Mike Tuviera, Rams David and Jojo Oconer for APT Entertainment; and Perci Intalan, Ferdinand Lapuz and Lana for Octobertrain Films; and supported by the Hong Kong Asia Films Financing Forum.
