Sta. Lucia Dept. Store’s cookfest winners

MANILA, Philippines - Charlene Gonzales and Godofredo Kaamiro Jr. of the Professional Academy for Culinary Education (PACE) were named champions in Spoonful of Flavors, Sta. Lucia East Department Store’s (SLEDS) first-ever intercollegiate cookfest for students of Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) and related courses at Sta. Lucia Mall’s Entertainment Center last Sept. 7.

The event was one of the highlights of Sta. Lucia Mall’s Home Fair, which offers up to 50 percent off in home items until Sept. 30.

Gonzales and Kaamiro Jr. went home with P10,000 worth of SLEDS gift certificates, plus a five-piece Meyer Induction set.

Ericka Condenuevo and Candy Dianne Etis of Far Eastern University (FEU) came next, and won P7,000 worth of SLEDS gift certificates, plus Meyer rectangular griddle.

Meison Mariano and Rolando Sayo of Southeast Asian College (SEAC) followed and received P5,000 worth of SLEDS gift certificates, plus Meyer square griddle.

The finalists prepared an appetizer, main course and dessert using siling pangsigang.

They and other contestants were made to prepare adobo for the elimination round that proceeded the grand finals.

Schools that sent representatives aside from PACE, FEU and SEAC were Facilities Management College, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, College of Arts and Sciences of Asia and the Pacific, World Citi Colleges and Roosevelt College, Cainta.
Sponsors were Meyer Cookware, Ocean Glassware, Elba Cookers from Italy Cook Magazine, Business Mirror, UNTV, Great Taste White Coffee, X.O. candy and Nissin Ramen.
