John Prats happy for Melai, forgives Jason

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Although surprised when he first heard the news, actor John Prats said he’s happy for Melai Cantiveros and Jason Cantiveros for having a baby.

The Kapamilya comedienne recently admitted that she is pregnant and planning to marry boyfriend Jason.

“Nagulat ako. Pero tulad ng sabi namin, happy ako for them. Mukha naman silang masaya. Happy naman si Melai, gusto naman nila yun,” John told members of the press at the set of their comedy gag show “Banana Split” on Tuesday, September 17.

He added that Melai and Jason’s child can help strengthen the couple’s relationship.

“Kasi hindi lang silang dalawa ang iisipin nila. May iisipin na silang iba sa bawat desisyon na gagawin nila,” he explained.

Last March, Jason punched John during a rehearsal of the comedy gag allegedly for bullying Melai. John has since forgiven Jason, but said he hasn’t spoken to the “Pinoy Big Brother” alumnus.

“Hindi pa kami nakapagusap, pero para sa akin naman, finorgive ko na yun. Parang okay na. Pero hindi pa kami nakapagusap,” he said.

When asked by the entertainment press about his girlfriend, GMA-7 actress Isabel Oli, John said: “Happy kami. Talagang mas relaxed ako ngayon, relaxed talaga ako.”

John spoke to the press to promote the month-long anniversary special of “Banana Split” this November. The comedy show is celebrating its fifth year on air.

“Banana Split” airs Saturday nights on ABS-CBN.
