Barbara Miguel wins best actress in Harlem Int’l Film Fest

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Young actress Barbara Miguel won the Best Actress award in the recently concluded Harlem International Film Festival Award in New York.

Barbara starred in the Cinemalaya New Breed Category entry “Nuwebe”, where she played the role of Krista.

Krista’s story is based from a real-life account of a nine-year-old girl who got pregnant.

According to the film’s director Joseph Israel Laban, Barbara stood out during the audition, which leaves her being the “only choice” for the role, reports said.

The Kapuso young actress became a favorite thru GMA networks’ drama series Munting Heredera and Biritera.

Other stars in the film are Jake Cuenca, Nadine Samonte and Anita Linda.

Aside from the Harlem International Film Festival, Nuwebe will be screened in other film festivals such as the Vancouver International Film Festival and MovieMov Italian Film Festival.
