Theft raps filed vs Claudine Barretto

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Claudine Barretto is facing a theft complaint filed against her by her former personal assistant.

It could be recalled that four months ago, Barretto filed a complaint against her former personal assistant, Dessa Cadelario Patilan, for allegedly attempting to rob her of 8.5 million worth of valuables.

But according to Dessa’s five-page complaint affidavit submitted to the Office of the City Prosecutor of Marikina last Sept. 11, she’s accusing her former employer of violating Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines or Theft, Philippine Entertainment Portal reported Tuesday.

Dessa recalled that on the night of May 10, Claudine went to her room at the actress’ house in Loyola Grand Villa, Marikina City, to search her stuff after the actress reported her at the police station for committing theft.

Claudine was then accompanied by Michelle Barretto, Ma. Luisa Ponce Becher, PO3 Pelito Obligacion, PO3 Ibrahim Abdul, and PO1 Wilfredo Cahayag.

Dessa said she didn’t hesitate to present her stuff believing that she’s innocent. Yet what bothered her is when Claudine allegedly got her wallet and took her money worth Php10,700, leaving her Php700 to spend.

She added that the actress also took her electronic tablet with a 4 gigabyte memory card and her SIM card, taking from her Php13,550 pesos worth of valuables.

In her complaint, Dessa likewise asked Claudine to pay her Php13,550 for the damages, Php50,000 for moral damages, Php50,000 for exemplary damages, and to pay for her lawyer’s fee.
