MANILA, Philippines - FLASH: 2011 Miss Universe 3rd Runner-Up Shamcey Supsup (photo) lost her wedding ring during an event in Nueva Ecija last Saturday night. The ring is identical with the one her fiancé, businessman-model Lloyd Lee (also pictured) is also wearing.
According to The STAR sources in Nueva Ecija, Shamcey must have lost it — or, knock on wood, somebody must have snatched it — while she was busy shaking hands and posing for photographs with the crowd.
The wedding ring, estimated to cost P150,000, was a bit loose and Shamcey was wearing it over the Promise Ring given to her as gift by Lloyd during their Chinese-style engagement last June at the EDSA Shangri-La.
Why was Shamcey already wearing a wedding ring when she and Lloyd have yet to march down the aisle in late December? The couple is now preparing for it.
It must have something to do with Chinese tradition. However, Shamcey is keeping her engagement ring, which is diamond-studded and costs more.
‘Sana I can still find my wedding ring,’ Shamcey was quoted as saying, shrugging, ‘I’m just charging it to experience, so patawa-tawa na lang ako. But if it was the engagement ring that I lost, iyak na ako nang iyak ngayon.’
Shamcey and Lloyd were introduced to each other by Lloyd’s cousin who was Shamcey’s co-candidate in the 2011 Bb. Pilipinas pageant. They went steady not long after.
According to the Chinese, no bad omen is attached to the loss of a wedding or engagement ring before the actual wedding, so Shamcey and Lloyd have nothing to worry about.
By the way, if anybody has found the ring or took it ‘by accident,’ please return it to Shamcey. It means so much to her and Lloyd.
Otherwise, the ‘bad omen’ might befall on whoever has it in his possession. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
